HORNSEA PIER

DESCRIPTION + /

A 1072ft pier was constructed at Hornsea from 1878 and was completed by 1880. It was damaged by a collision with a ship during storms the same year, when 300ft was lost, but was repaired and fully opened in 1885. It stood until 1897, when it was bought by a firm for demolition. The gates of the pier were bought for a house in Grovehill, Beverley.
