Summary : Part of a late 8th-early 9th century High Cross shaft is located at the south-east corner of the churchyard near the entrance gate. On one side is a depiction of a mausoleum with 7 windows, and a corpse swathed in burial clothing. This has been interpreted as a depiction of the Lazarus story, or more generally of the resurrection of the dead. On the south face is a seated human figure beneath an arch or halo. |
