Summary : Rawdon Crematorium, also known as Airedale and Wharfdale Crematorium, was built in 1959 for the Pudsey, Aireborough, Horsforth, Ilkley and Otley Joint Committee. It was designed by F L Charlton, the archictect of Hull Chanterlands crematorium (see HOB UID 1524897). A simple traditional building with a stone coloured brick chapel, with pitched pantile roof, arched cloisters on both sides and a bell tower, housing the chimney flue. The building also incorporates a Chapel of Rest and a Chapel of Meditation. Garden of Rest includes areas of both formal and informal planting. |
