Summary : Former Chapel and Crematorium at Hedon Road Crematorium. Cemetery chapel and crematorium, dated 1899, now disused. The building was designed by the City Engineer. It was restored in the mid 20th century and disused from circa 1963. A Perpendicular Gothic style building of red brick, with ashlar dressings and slate roofs. The building is T-shaped in plan with west porch, and central tower on south side. Grade II listed. The crematorium is important as the first municipal crematorium to be opened in Great Britain.
