Summary : The footbridge in London Zoo which crosses Regent's Canal was constructed in 1872 and links the Middle Gardens to the area of the zoo north of the canal. It is a single span, slightly cambered, cast iron girder bridge with decorative pattern of iron circles of diminishing size in the spandrels. The bridge bears the founder's name R Masefield and Company, and was built by D Cross and Son. The abutments were partly rebuilt in 1930. |
