Summary : A former squirrel enclosure situated to the north of Three Island Pond (Monument HOB UID 1507956) in London Zoo. The enclosure was constructed in 1905 and is irregularly-shaped on plan, measuring about 17 metres in width, with a perimenter wall of coped reconstituted stone. Although it was originally built for squrriels it was soon used for prairie dogs. Later it housed a small budgerigar aviary before again being used for squirrels. It had been abandoned by 1991. |
