Monument Number 1493872
Hob Uid:
1493872
Location :
North Somerset
Loxton
Grid Ref :
ST3745556620
Summary :
A Medieval field system in visible as earthworks on aerial photographs. The site is centred on ST 3743 5665 and extends over an area which measures 355 metres north-south and 273 metres east-west. The site comprises seven lynchets or field boundaries and four blocks of ridge and furrow. The ridge and furrow has been levelled on aerial photograph taken in 1989, though the lynchets are still visible as earthwork on Lidar flown in 2006. The lynchets and field boundaries are ENE-WSW, and defined fields which measure circa 150 metres long and between 30 metres and 60 metres wide. This is likely to have originally been part of the extensive Medieval and earlier field system around Christon (see ST 35NE 2).
