Ridge and furrow of possible medieval or post-medieval date can be seen as earthworks on aerial photographs on Old Barrow Down, Withypool and Hawkridge parish. The ridge and furrow earthworks can be seen to the east and west of, as well as within, a small rectangular enclosure of probable post-medieval date which abuts the road. The areas of ridge and furrow outside the enclosure are enclosed by narrow earthwork banks which appear to abut the enclosure. The banks are closely spaced and are probably or post-medieval in date, but it is unclear whether they predate the creation of the rectangular enclosure. Those within it have been cut by two small quarry pits.

Ridge and furrow of possible medieval or post-medieval date can be seen as earthworks on aerial photographs on Old Barrow Down, centred on circa SS 83523217.
The ridge and furrow earthworks can be seen to the east, west and within, a small rectangular enclosure of probable post-medieval date which abuts the road. The banks are spaced on average 3 metres apart and show no sign of a curve when viewed in plan and have been interpreted as probably or post-medieval in date.
The areas of ridge and furrow outside the enclosure are enclosed by narrow earthwork banks which appear to abut the enclosure and the field boundary to the south. Although it appears the banks post-date the road it is unclear whether they predate the creation of the rectangular enclosure. Those within it have been cut by two small quarry pits by the publication of the first edition Ordnance Survey map in 1890. (1-3)
