Summary : A perpendicular arrangement of field boundaries of uncertain date is visible as cropmarks on air photographs. These features now appear to have been destroyed by quarrying (UID 1486121).
More information : A perpendicular arrangement of field boundaries of uncertain date is visible as cropmarks on air photographs at NZ2364 0012. The features are visible between the runways of RAF Scorton Airfield (UID 1409216). Other linear cropmarks in this area can be related to field boundaries that are depicted on the Ordnance Survey map of 1857 and have not been mapped by this project. These however are not depicted on this map and appear to align with other undated boundaries and the probable Iron Age pit alignment that lay approximately 400m to the west (see UID 1485718).These features now appear to have been destroyed by quarrying (UID 1486121).(1-3)
