Summary : Site of Second World War Type 22 pillbox which was opposite the external entance gate to the Officer's Mess at Boscombe Down airfield. This is one of fourteen pillboxes built to defend the airfield, of which ten survive. It differed from the normal Type 22 pillbox in that it was not provided with an anti-ricochet wall.
