Summary : A Second World War heavy anti aircraft battery with associated military buildings and barbed wire obstruction are visible as structures and demolished buildings on air photographs. The remains of this site appear to have been misinterpreted as a coastal battery (UID 1425941), of which no surface features are visible. This site appears to be part of a much larger coastal defence system (UID 1476752), including a coastal battery (UID 1425941), a searchlight battery (UID 1476739) and tank traps (UID 1476748). Limited foundations are visible on the latest 1993 Ordnance Survey vertical photography.
More information : A Second World War heavy anti aircraft battery with associated military buildings and barbed wire obstruction are visible as structures on air photographs, centred at SD 2969 0202. The remains of this site appear to have been misinterpreted as a coastal battery (UID 1425941), of which no surface features are visible. This site appears to be part of a much larger coastal defence system (UID 1476752), including a coastal battery (UID 1425941), a searchlight battery (UID 1476739) and tank traps (UID 1476748). Limited foundations are visible on the latest 1993 Ordnance Survey vertical photography.
