MONUMENT NO. 1476525

DESCRIPTION + /

A curvilinear bank is visible on aerial photographs as an earthwork on the northern end of Trout Hill, Exmoor. It appears to be associated with the extant boundary constructed by the Knight family in the mid-19th century, but its precise function is uncertain. The bank is not depicted on the 1st edition Ordnance Survey map, suggesting it was abandoned prior to publication in 1889. A similar bank is visible at the southern end of Trout Hill, and it is possible that the two banks are the remains of the original boundary, altered at a later date.
