Summary : Site of Second World War heavy anti aircraft battery at Cross Green. It was armed with four 4.5-inch guns with GL Mark II radar in 1942, and six 3.7-inch Mark IIC guns with No.3 Mark II radar in 1945. It was manned by the Home Guard in 1942 and by the 12th Royal Artillery regiment in 1945. Retained as a Nucleus Force Headquarters Battery in 1946.
