Summary : Site of Second World War heavy anti aircraft battery at Bedquilts Receation Ground. It was armed with four 4.5-inch guns and GL Mark II radar in 1942, and mounted six 3.7-inch Mark IIC guns with No.3 Mark II radar in 1945. It was manned by 295 Battery of the 96th Royal Artillery Regiment in 1940-1, by the Home Guard in 1942, and by the 12th Royal Artillery Regiment in 1945. It was retained as an Off-Site Nucleus Force Battery in 1946. |
