The marks comprise a discontinuous straight ditch with a curved corner at its east end, and are closely associated with the White Moss camps 1 and 2. |
More information : NY 4575 6025. Possible traces of a Roman temporary camp are visible as faint cropmarks on aerial photographs taken in 1984, and have been mapped by English Heritage's Hadrian's Wall NMP. The marks comprise a discontinuous straight ditch 68 metres long, with a curved corner at its east end. The ditch is located immediately to the east of White Moss camp 1 (NY 46 SE 17; UID 11626), and lies within the area of camp 2 (NY 46 SE 31; UID 909916). (1)
This ditch was recorded from aerial photographs by the RCHME's Roman Camps survey in 1987. (2)
