More information : NY 4554 6044. A Roman temporary camp is visible as a cropmark on aerial photographs taken in 1995, and has been mapped by English Heritage's Hadrian's Wall NMP. This camp overlaps the annexe of camp 2 in the White Moss complex (NY 46 SE 31; UID 909916). It is nearly square, aligned roughly east to west, and measures 117 metres north to south and 116 metres east to west. The camp is defined by a single ditch, with faint traces of an earthen bank at the north east corner. The perimeter ditch is discontinuous, the clearest parts being the east end of the north side, the north east corner, the east side and the south east corner. A possible entrance, with one or two traverses, is visible in the west side. (1)
Part of this camp was recorded from aerial photographs by the RCHME's Roman Camps survey in 1987. (2)
