Summary : A palisaded enclosure of possible Iron Age/Roman date. It is visible as a cropmark on air photographs. The fragmentary remains of up to three curvilinear circuits of ditch are visible. The enclosure was partially excavated in 1974 but no firm date was obtained. The enclosure appears to have been partially destroyed by a Roman gravel pit (UID1451496).
More information : A palisaded enclosure of possible Iron Age/ Roman date is visible as a cropmark on air photographs at NY 9781 6514. The fragmentary remains of up to three curvilinear circuits of ditch are visible. The enclosure was partially excavated in 1974 but no firm date was obtained. The enclosure appears to have been partially destroyed by a Roman gravel pit (NY 96 NE 203/ UID1451496).
