Several lengths of Hadrian's Wall are visible as ruined structures on air photographs and digital elevation models derived from Environment Agency lidar and Structure from Motion taken from 2017 specialist oblique photography, between Turret 49b (NY 6104 6617) and Poltross Burn Milecastle 48 (NY6342 6620). These sections of the wall were mapped by Historic England as part of the English Heritage Trust's 'Hadrian's Wall: Birdoswald Sector Survey' to sub-metre accuracy. The record includes earthwork banks alongside sections of the wall, which are presumably either associated with the wall construction or the later excavation of the features. (6-7) |
