More information : A 20th Century pillbox and an extensive network of barbed wire fences are visible as structures on air photographs centred at TA 41301548. At TA 4140 1544 is the pillbox. The feature appears to be surrounded by a barbed wire perimeter. Centred at TA 4125 1548 is a sub-square barbed wire fence. It is suggested this represents the remains of a pillbox / observation post. The monument is part of the extensive coastal defence system built around Godwin Battery (HOB UID 929478). These features date to World War II. Due to coastal erosion a conspicuous part of the monument no longer survives in situ. (1)
