| Summary : A commemorative monument and tomb to Thomas Gadd Matthews, an oil and indigo merchant and dry salter, in Arnos Vale Cemetery. The monument is of sandstone and marble and comprises a large sarcophagus with lion feet, on a plinth with cast-iron railings. It was erected in after 1860 in both the Anglican and nonconformist sections of the cemetery to enable Matthews to be buried in the Anglican section and his wife in the nonconformist part. |
