More information : A Medieval and / or Post Medieval settlement site and associated ridge and furrow are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs taken in 2003. The site is centred at TF 1359 4624 and comprises a group of raised rectilinear probable building plots or tofts that are centred around TF 1349 4613 that are each separated by an irregular grid pattern of hollow ways, plus four partial blocks of ridge and furrow cultivation which are dispersed around the current settlement of Howell, at TF 1345 4609, TF 1384 4624, TF 1341 4637 and TF 1337 4640. These features probably represent earlier phases in the settlement pattern at Howell, and as such should be considered together with Howell Hall (TF 14 NW 9 / UID: 351080). (1) |
