Summary : Site of a Second World War Home Guard picket post recorded at Dolebury Hill, Churchill. The post was constructed in 1940-41.

Dolebury Hill, Churchill. (1)

The possible earthwork remains of picket post referred to by the above authority (1) is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs and has been mapped by the Mendip AONB NMP project. The remains are defined by a circular bank forming a small enclosure 12m in diameter on the northern in turned rampart of Dolebury Hillfort (ST45NE 3/HOB UID 194279). It may be the banked enclosure for the picket post which was demolished before aerial photographs taken in 1946. The enlclosure is not visible on aerial photographs taken in 1989. (2-3)
