Summary : A Second World War bombing decoy at Deanhill Farm in Betchton, which was built to deflect enemy bombing from Royal Air Force Cranage airfield. This was a 'Q-type' night decoy that displayed a sequence of lights to simulate an active airfield. It is referenced as being operational between 1941 and 1942. By 1946 the site was given back to agricultural use and no features of the decoy survive. |

A Second World War 'Q-type' bombing decoy located at Betchton (SJ 787 602). It was constructed to deflect enemy bombing from RAF Cranage. It is referenced as being active between 01-AUG-1941 to 12-AUG-1942. (2)
Aerial photography from 1946 shows that the site had been given back to agricultural usage and no features of the decoy survive. (3)

The control bunker/generator house is still extant on private land at SJ78225943. Condition is generally good, no internal features noted. Original access was from the lane to the east over a small bridge but this is now hidden by overgrown hedge (6)
