More information : SU 0179 1005. Perpendicular linear ditches, probably representing Prehistoric or Roman field boundaries, are visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs, and have been mapped by EH's Knowlton Circles Project. The linear features are fragmentary and appear in the area from SU 0176 1015 - SU 0182 0993. They seem to post date Bronze Age round barrows in the immediate vicinity (SU 01 SW 175, SU 00 NW 93). Further fragmentary traces of possible field systems are visible to the east (SU 01 SW 214, SU 01 SW 215, SU 01 SW 216) and south (SU 00 NW 106). (1) |
