Summary : A sub-rectangular enclosure surrounding Knowlton Church is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs and has been mapped by EH's Knowlton Circles Project. The enclosure is probably the remains of a churchyard boundary of Medieval or Post Medieval date, and fits closely within the inner ditch of Church Henge.
More information : SU 0238 1028. A sub-rectangular enclosure surrounding Knowlton Church (SU 01 SW 42) is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs and has been mapped by EH's Knowlton Circles Project. The enclosure is probably the remains of a churchyard boundary of Medieval or Post Medieval date. It measures 48.8m x 39.2m, and fits closely within the inner ditch of Church Henge (SU 01 SW 102).
