Summary : Site of 14th century North Gate at Hartlepool. Demolished 1836.

The North Gate had a ribbed archway, 10 feet wide, the whole gateway tower being about 30 feet wide, according to Hutchinson. It had a portcullis and double gates and was probably strengthened with a wet ditch and drawbridge.

A plaque on a modern building at NZ52513408 states that on this site stood the Northgate erected circa 1260, demolished 1836. (2,3)
