Summary : The former RAF station office, (Ad Astra House) now a museum at North Weald Airfield. It was built between 1927-1939 and was used during World War Two, particularly the Battle of Britain. The building has two storeys and is rendered, with a pitched roof. It now houses the North Weald Airfield Museum, with photographs and artefacts relating to the history of the Airfield from 1916. Close to the museum is a war memorial, an obelisk erected in 1952 by the people of Norway- the airfield had been a base for Norwegion pilots during the war. |
