Summary : The site of Roman turret 47B on Hadrian's Wall. It was excavated in 1912 and is now overlain by the house and garden of `Meadow View'. There are no visible remains.
More information : [NY 6392 6625] Turret [G.S.] (Site of) (1) Turret 47B, located by exploratory excavation in 1912, just beyond the hamlet of Gap. (2-3) There are no surface indications of this turret, the site of which is adjacent to modern farm buildings. (4) The site as plotted on the OS 25 inch map at NY 6392 6625 is overlain by the house and garden of `Meadow View'; no trace. The accuracy of this position cannot be confirmed. (5) Listed building reference. (6) Located on the English Heritage map of Hadrian's Wall 2010. (7)
