Milecastle 47, three hundred yards east of Chapel House, was excavated in 1935. It measured internally 69ft from north to south, nd some 60ft east to west with type II gateways. (2-3)
No structural remains. The site falls in a pasture field and is visible as a wide ground swelling only. Published survey (25") correct. (4)
NY 6490 6607. The milecastle survives as a ploughed down vague mound only. Dressed stone from the gate lies to the north on a modern causeway. (5)
