Summary : Fort Number 3 of London's Civil War defences was near Brick Lane. The common council resolution called for a redoubt with two flankers, while Vertue shows a hornwork,and Lithgow recorded a rectangular fort. The site was close to the junction of the modern Swanfield and Rhoda Streets.
