Summary : A World War Two type 22 pillbox located at the former Debden military airfield (now Carver Barracks). The pillbox is situated on the southern perimeter of the flying field area, and formed part of the former RAF Debden's defences. The pillbox is thought to have been built between 1940 and 1941. It is constructed from brick and reinforced concrete and is hexagonal in shape. It was said to be extant and in fair condition in 1999. |
More information : TL 563 344. A World War Two pillbox at the former Debden military airfield, Debden (sic). The type 22 pillbox formed part of the former RAF Debden's defences. The pillbox is thought to have been built between 1940 and 1941. It is constructed from brick and reinforced concrete and is hexagonal in shape. It was said to be extant and in fair condition in 1999, when it was visited by a Defence of Britain Project recorder. (1)
