Summary : The former sergeants mess at the RAF Biggin Hill West Camp Site. It was built possibly between 1929 and 1934, to a design evolved during the post 1923 "expansion period" of the RAF. Since World War Two it has been outwardly little altered. An English Heritage report produced in 2003 recommended that the building be considered for possible future Listed Building status.
More information : An English Heritage report produced in May 2003 recommended that the former sergeant's mess at Biggin Hill West Camp be considered for potential future Listed Building Status, possibly at Grade II. The report states that it was built to a post 1923 design and had been "externally little-altered since the Second World War", commenting that the building "relates to a rank of airmen that played a key role in military aviation in the Second World War" (1).
