Summary : The lecture rooms and armoury at RAF Bicester technical site built in 1926 and extended in 1936. The extention was made for a photographic laboratory above the lecture rooms and workshops. The building is "T" shaped in plan the cross wing and the west part of the main building have two storeys and are constructed of brick with hipped roofs. The eastern part of the building has a single storey, and is constructed of brick, with a flat roof. The lecture rooms and armoury were recommended for potential future Listed Building status by an English Heritage report produced in May 2003. |
More information : An English Heritage report produced in May 2003 recommended that the lecture room and armoury ("Building 123") should be considered for potential future Listed Building status, possibly at Grade II. The report describes the building which was built in 1926 as "prominently sited on the main avenue bisecting the site. A cross wing added 1936 for a new photographic laboratory above lecture rooms and workshops." (1)
Based on comparison with the locational information in source 1 and the photograph in the relevant Building File, the lecture room and armoury is the long "T"-shaped building on the main avenue acros the technical site, centered at SP 5923 2441, shown on plan SP 5824 and SP 5924. (2) |
