More information : A small square ditched enclosure is visible as cropmarks on air photographs taken July 25th 2001. 18 metres square, it is aligned nw-se (or ne-sw, of course) with what appears to be a causeway or entrance at its northern corner. Its proximity to ring ditch SU 49 NW 85, just 3 metres to the east, raises the possibility that this square ditch may also have surrounded a barrow mound. (1)
The cropmark remains of the square enclosure described by the above authority, has been mapped as part of the Fyfield/Frilford aerial survey (event UID 1515586) from aerial photographs taken in 2001 and 2009.
The enclosure is also located within a large area of Iron Age and Roman settlement (recorded in UID 234095) and could be associated with the earlier phase of this settlement. (2-3)
