Summary : House built in the late 18th century for James Hatch, designed by Jesse Gibson. The house is of two storeys and is built of gualt brick with a stone cornice, blocking course and other details. The front is of six bays with a four columned Doric porch, there is a wing of similar general style and date, with later extensions behind. At the centre of the garden frontis a two storey bow window with columns and a dentilled cornice to the ground floor. The interior retains some of the original decorations. The original entrance to the house was through the southern bow, but on the advice of Humphrey Repton it was changed to the north front in 1971. |
