More information : [NY 699494] In Kirkhaugh churchyard, south of the church, is a massive cross 6ft. 8ins. high. (1) NY 69934940 A medieval pillar cross, set in a modern base. See G.P. AO/56/303/5. A plaque inside the church states that the cross was restored in 1889. (2) As described. Surveyed at 1:2500 (3) KIRKHAUGH 18/148 Cross 10 metres south of parish church door Grade II* Cross, Pre-Conquest on C19 base. Sandstone. Shaft and cross head, of slightly 'hammerhead' form, are cut from a single stone. No visible carving or ornament. Having served as a gatepost for many years, the cross was re-set in the late C19 on a stepped base of rock-faced and margined stone. (4)
