More information : Pillbox forming part of the wartime airfield defences to RAF Cranage constructed after the spring of 1940, It is of local design, hexagonal in plan, with an internal ricochet wall and stepped gun loopholes in each face giving a 360 degree range of fire. The structure survives to a height of 1.5 metres, has a diameter of 9.2 metres and each of the walls are 5 metres in length. Construction is of brick and concrete. There are traces of an entrance porch or blast wall on the northeast side. (1)
