Summary : The Louth and East Coast Railway was authorised in 1872 from Louth to Mablethorpe via Saltfleetby, whence a branch was to run North to Saltfleet Haven, and eventually to Cleethorpes, but the branch was never built. Originally this was an agricultural railway, but seaside excursions, started in 1877 became increasingly popular. Closed in 1970.
