More information : (NY 68442021) St. Anne's Hospital (NAT). (1) St. Anne's Hospital, almshouse, on the east side of Boroughgate, 250 yards south-southeast of St. Lawrence's church, is of two storeys; the walls are of rubble and the roofs are slate-covered. It was founded in 1652-3 by Lady Anne Clifford for a superior and twelve 'sisters'. It has been much altered, and the upper storey, as such, is modern. One tenement on the east side has been removed and another has been rebuilt. The building forms a quadrangle entered on the west side and with a chapel in the north east angle. The larger tenement in the south east angle was probably built as a common Hall. (2)
