Summary : The Avonmouth and Pilning Railway was authorised in 1890 and opened in 1900. A new junction at St Andrew's connected it to the Clifton Extension line at Avonmouth. At its Northern end it connected with the old Bristol and South Wales Union route at New Passage, crossing the Eastern portal of the Severn Tunnel. Passenger services were not started until 1928, when stations were built at Severn Beach, New Passage and Pilling (Low Level). |
