More information : (TG 525073). A four turreted castle or military fore-fence at Great Yarmouth, sited just opposite New Gate (See TG 50 NW21) and now occupied by Row 99, was ordered to be strengthened and repaired in the late 16th century. In 1620 the upper storey was removed and the materials used for enclosing the mount (See TG 50 NW17). The following year the whole structure was demolished. (See map with TG 50 NW 2). (1)
