The OS large-scale plan incorrectly names this gate, over the site
of which St. Nicholas Road has been made. The correct site of
St. Nicholas Gate lies further north (TG 50 NW 62). The proper name
of the gate here is Pudding Gate, or Eighth Gate (a). It was a 24ft
wide passage through Twelfth Tower and was demolished in 1837. It is illustrated by Palmer (b). (For history of Town Wall, see

No remains. A plaque marks the site. (3)
