Summary : A brick-built, 18th century icehouse inserted into the south-eastern side of a medieval motte. A barrel-vaulted entrance passage leads to a domed ice chamber measuring about 3 metres in diameter. This type of icehouse is known as a cup and dome ice well. It probably served as an ice store for nearby Pool House, and the ice was probably obtained from a pond south of the house. Scheduled.
