Summary : Remnant of a brewery, built in 1834 for the Royal Hospital for Seamen to the designs of Joseph Kay. The building had to be extensive repaired after a fire in 1843 and had ceased to be used for brewing before the closure of the Hospital in 1871. Most of the building was demolished in the late 19th century and the remnant was used for a time as an engine house and latterly as an electricity substation. |
