Summary : This hospital was built by Abbot Daniel (died 1153), of St Benet of Hulme Abbey for the poor, aged and infirm, pilgrims and wayfarers to the abbey. Closed 1539. All that now remains is the barn of Horning Hall, which is the chapel of the former hospital, but has little detail left to date it. The window surrounds, however, exclude a date before the 14th century. It is a simple rectangular plan, and was converted to a barn and altered in the late 18th century. |
