Summary : 1940 wreck of British Bristol Blenheim bomber which ditched in the sea after being shot down in a chase by 11 Bf109s, while providing air cover for the Dunkirk evacuation (Operation Dynamo).
More information : [Bristol Blenheim Mk.IV medium bomber; one of a batch of 220 delivered between November 1939 and March 1940 to Contract No.569202/36] Shot down by Bf 109s while attacking Ju 87s over Goodwin Sands, 1.6.40. (1) Account from sole survivor, the observer, who was forced to ditch the plane after the death of his pilot and rear gunner. He ditched close to an armed trawler which picked him up and brought him to Ramsgate.
