Summary : A cairn, one of circa 80 clearance and burial cairns on Ramsley Moor (see SK 27 NE 80). It was excavated in 1958 when it survived as a turf covered stone mound circa 10.5 feet in diameter and 1.5 feet high. Some upright stones were visible among the cairn material. However, there was little in the way of structure evident in the make up of the mound. A polished stone axehead, sourced to Great Langdale, was found in the ground surface beneath the mound. Its relationship to the cairn is uncertain. |
