The Pied Friars are said (a) to have had a house at the north
east corner of the churchyard of St. Peter Mountergate (St Peter
Parmentergate). After the friars were obliged to join one of the
four principal orders of mendicants (c1307?), it was granted to
the hospital of Bek in Billingford (TG 02 SW 6) whose master made it into his city house and converted it into a chantry for
apparently 24 secular priests who lived in colegiate manner
until the dissolution. (2-4)
