NORWICH FRIARY OF PIED FRIARS

DESCRIPTION + /

Friary founded by 1290, situated at St Peter Mountergate. It was converted during the early 14th century into a chantry. The friar's house was apparently situated at the North-East corner of the churchyard. After the order was disbanded, and the friars obliged to join one of the four principal orders of friars, the site was granted to the hospital of Beck in Billingford. The master of this hospital converted it into the chantry which survived until the dissolution.
