Summary : The library of Dover College is housed in the former gatehouse to the Benedictine priory of St Martin's. It was built in the 14th century and was restored in 1880 by G E Street. The building is built of flint with stone dressings and a renewed hipped tiled roof. It has two storeys with the west part being lower. The windows are traceried except for the west part which has a 19th century triple window, round-headed on the first floor. Entrance through the building is by way of a central pointed arch. |
