Summary : Country house built in 1538-40 utilising the nave and claustral buildings of Mottisfont Augustinian Abbey, (SP32NW6). The North range incorporates the 13th century nave and crossing, and is 2 1/2 storeys high. The South range was altered in the 1740's, destroying all monastic architectural components, but at each end, projecting stone wings incorporate the South transept and chapter house, and the cellarium range, and is 3-storeyed. Further alterations in the 19th and 20th centuries. |
